When you’re having a bad day, find your purpose. A BOGO Reunion.

Have you ever had one of those days where everything you touch goes horribly wrong? You might even find yourself thinking it would have been better if you had just stayed in bed. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option for me on this particular day, so instead, I decided to seek out my purpose for the day—something that would remind me of my place in the world rather than leaving me as a mere lump beneath my sheets.
I ventured out for lunch and began sifting through my emails while waiting for my meal to arrive. It was then that I stumbled upon a special request that would soon become my driving purpose. A woman was trying to assist her elderly cousin, who longed to reunite with the twins she had given up for adoption back in the 1950s. At just 14 years old, she had made the heartbreaking decision to prioritize their futures, believing she could not provide them the life they truly deserved.
I couldn’t help but joke to myself, thinking that if I could pull this off, it would be like a “BOGO” reunion! By the time lunch was over, I had gathered all the information I needed to start the search. With the details she provided, I was both shocked and saddened that no one had come to her aid sooner. Now, those boys, now nearing their senior years, were preparing to speak to their mother for the first time in over 60 years. When they finally connected over the phone, it felt as though they had known each other their entire lives. They are set to meet in person this weekend.
So, the next time you find yourself feeling like your day is going to be a waste, take a moment to identify your purpose! I promise you’ll feel much better for it!
